Dancing Through

Hello All! I had a quick minute for my next post. Here is the latest woodblock print. Believe it or not, I actually produced 18 good ones this time! It is exciting to be pulling larger editions of my prints these days. I am hoping to eventually hit 50 in an edition.

On another note, this month and part of next are going to be really busy for me. I am currently going through a lot of transitions and may not be able to post as frequently (I was trying to post once a week). I will keep you updated the best that I can! Happy holidays to everyone!

Little Women

I believe that this is still a work in progress for me. It is closer than before, but I still do not think it is complete.

Little Women

I am finally posting again!! Sorry for the delay, but these delays are going to continue through the holiday season. Seriously, there are not enough hours in a day. I did want to share both of these photos with you so that you can see the difference between the painting I scanned in and the painting after I spent some time playing in Photoshop. Lately, I love Photoshop. Now I can take this information back to the original painting and create a masterpiece!

Children's Spots

The Crane Wife

These sketches were created based on a children's story called The Crane Wife. This story has not yet been published by the author, but the small bit I was allowed to read to inspire these sketches was beautiful.

Valley Art Gallery Christmas

I have been accepted to show my work at the Valley Art Gallery in Walnut Creek. At Christmas they have a volunteer program for their artists to create ornaments to hang on their Christmas tree. It was a really fun, quick project for me that will hang in the gallery through the holiday season!!

Water

I have been trying to keep up with IF for the last couple of weeks, but I seem to be a day or two late every time! The word of the week was "water". I used it as an opportunity to play with colors and shapes.

Midnight Moon - GRAY AREA

It's finally finished!! I am part of an annual print exchange and the subject this year was "gray area". After much debate, I decided to try using multiple blocks to create an image rather than just carving away from one block continually. It was a great learning experience, but it was more time consuming for me than simply using one block.

Boy and Bear Revisited

I know that I posted these paintings not too long ago, but I was not satisfied with them. I have been looking and looking at them posted on my wall in my apartment. After standing there with my hands on my hips while tapping my toe I decided that I would not be happy without re-painting them. These are the pieces that came from that conclusion. I am much happier with them and I plan to continue on!

IF - Carry

Mr. Turtlesworth carries his home on his back. It is very convenient for travelling, wardrobe changes, and tea time.

Suspend

I have always been interested in all things circus. This was the perfect opportunity to create a piece that revolved around it!

Boy and His Bear First Final

I am doing it! I am moving on to the final illustrations for the children's book I have been working on for some time now. I am so excited to be doing this. It is finally becoming a reality. This first work is actually page two. I am not sure why, but I didn't want to start in order :)

BLUE Progress

My friend, Rainbow Ross hosts an annual Postcard Project. This is the project's third year and it just keeps growing! This year the theme is BLUE. I thought with the lovely spring weather Blueberries would be a perfect way to fit into my friend's theme. Below is the process work for the woodblock print that will be completed for the 2012 Postcard Project!
It all starts with a sketch.

And then it is drawn backwards onto the woodblock. Next will be carving!

Dandelion Lights

This is just a piece I did for fun. My brain needed a break from all of the "serious" art that I have been making :)
